Make no mistake about it, paying for the S6 Edge means you’re paying extra for the sleek form factor and unique aesthetics. Admittedly, the aesthetic appeal is a victory of sorts for Samsung, given its cheap-looking plastic phones of the past. Think of the Edge as Samsung’s version of the Apple Watch. It doesn’t really do anything the base model can’t, but you pay extra for the looks and the exclusive feel of the device. That’s all well and good, but it feels like a missed opportunity for the Korean technology giant. The Edge could have been at once one of the best looking flagships on the market while also promising functionality features that could get more people on board, including developers. As it stands, this will be more of a niche device for fashion-conscious mobile consumers.
